Hurrying across a deserted beach, their many legs weaving intricate spatial patterns, Theo Jansen’s Strandbeest can be seen moving under the vast open sky. Propelled by wind and the intricate balance of their own mechanics they seem alien and native to this landscape that is, like the ‘animals’ themselves, human-made.
