Vernacular architecture emerges from the lived experience of communities, adapting to local climates and available materials through iterative, evolutionary processes.”

David Rockwood is Professor Emeritus at the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Architecture. His research focuses on design, building technology, and urban systems. Rockwood served as a Fulbright Specialist, conducted teaching and research in Vietnam under a Fulbright Faculty Scholar grant, and is author of the book Bamboo Gridshells.
