The shaping of our built environment is the result of multiple disciplines’ engagement and their respective discourses. Within architecture, however, our discourse is disproportionate to the grand challenges of our time, and it is experiencing an isobaric compression. One explanation for this is the lack of a larger shared research culture. There are multiple factors contributing to this, some known and others hidden in plain view.
