Digital Techniques in Historic Preservation

The field of historic preservation constantly seeks new ways to document, assess, and interpret existing landmark building resources while considering the options for archiving information for the future and enhancing communication during the repair of these resources. Today, the practice of surveying and documenting historic buildings increasingly incorporates new technologies that enable more accuracy and efficiency than older methods. The convergence of improved computing power, cost-effectiveness, and ease of training have brought these digital techniques into the mainstream of historic preservation.
