Loci of Disruptiveness: Reflections on Ethics at the Dawn of the Technocene

The task is unnerving. To write a polemical article on technology and its potential forthcoming impact is an intimidating mission, since it squarely concerns our possible futures and that of the fast-expanding transformation of the earth’s environment by humans. In developing this text, many questions arose. Much has been said about technology, with views ranging from enthusiasm to indifference, caution, and anxiety. Numerous questions have been contemplated in great depth: Will we rule technology? Will others rule us using technology? or Will technology rule us?
