Research Methodologies

The Urban Ecology Lab (Laboratorio de Ecologia Urbana—LEUr) originated during the Brazilian entry into the 2012 Solar Decathlon competition in Madrid, Spain. Since then, the lab methods have shifted from sustainable buildings to systemic regenerative design to induce mutual positive impacts on the environment and human well-being. LEUr investigations involve collaborations with engineering, ecology, law, and computer science groups towards transdisciplinary associations between universities and other institutions linked to land use and environmental issues.1
