Issue 6.2

Construction Automation and Design Research

The Center for Robotics in Construction and Architecture (CRCA) is an integrated research unit established in 2017 under the T-Stone Robotics Institute at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It focuses on the advancement and development of autonomous robotic solutions for practical use within the architecture and construction industry. At its core is an integrated partnership between Robotics Engineering and Architecture research units. It is a springboard to develop comparative multidisciplinary research alongside industry, creating opportunities for knowledge and technology transfer to address automation needs. CRCA’s primary direction falls under research topics encompassing robot manipulation in construction, automated environment sensing and response, architectural design, fabrication, and assembly.
